This Orb is all about Arizona Self Defense laws. It consists of resources and materials for those who wish to have quick access to useful information related to self defense, particularly geared around Arizona law.

Why Self Defense? Why not just let the police handle it?

Police exist solely to uphold the law, not to be an individual’s guards. Numerous court decisions have absolved police from any liability for failure to protect individuals. And even with the best intentions, police officers are too few to be everywhere they are needed at once. As a popular saying goes: "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."

Protection of persons is the job of bodyguards. However, most of us cannot afford to have our own personal bodyguards. Considering that most people have learned to be their own chauffeurs, chefs and accountants, why is it such a stretch to expect to also be your own personal protection?

"I don't even call it violence when it's in self defense; I call it intelligence."
- Malcolm X

I just want to say one thing. By all means I am the first to be against some asshole trying to take my gun rights away, or for a cop to tell me I cant carry my knife on my dash board because its bigger than the palm of my hand. But I wanted to tell a story real quick. I had a coworker in Cottonwood, AZ who was shot down not even a year ago. Why was he shot? He was shot because he pulled a battle axe on some old man who apparently didnt know how to drive and side swiped him. Granted my coworker had a temper, but was harmless. He hit the guys truck door with the axe. The man shot him three times THREE times. Killed him on the spot. Because the man happened to be an ex fire cheif of course he got away with it when he said it was self defense. Everyone in town was ruiting for this guy who murdered my friend. I know the man who was killed, and I have pissed him off plenty but he was harmless. There was no reason for this guy to shoot him THREE times. The first shot was in his side and would not have killed him, but it would have stopped him. But the guy decided to keep pulling the trigger saying that he was still coming after him. There were no eye witnesses that came forward. So dude got away, adn now my buddies name has been forgotten the only thing he is known as now is "The Axe Man". So when I say screw these laws of self defense I mean screw em in the way of abusing them. It is Arizona law that if somone breaks into your home and you shoot them you better kill them, because wounding em will get you charged, but killing them is self defense. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with that?

This is a great resource! What would you do if someone just started choking you in your car?! You could be happily heading home in your apartment complex, just like in Mikes profile picture, and then WHAM! You've got some road raged jerk trying to kill you. Everybody should be up-to-speed on their self defense rights.
