I was recently assulted in my home by a family member, he has a history of beating women and children. I feared for my life and after being hit I fired a warning shot now I'm facing jail, probation and was told by the district attorney that she was offering me a gift of probation. I have 17 years background in law enforcement and he has a host of assult and batteries,strong arm robbery and they seem to feel that I elevated the situation by firing the warning shot yet he has beaten me before and every woeman and child he has had contact with. I have never been arrested and has always been law abidding. When this attack happen I was in my bed I got arrested in pajama's and bunny slippers. In his own words he admitted I was in the bed, however he failed to mention that he attacked me. I'm confused at the law in arizona as to why you can not protect yourself if you are being attacked I was not trying to even hurt him I just wanted to stop the attack and also prevent him from further hurting me as he has in the past.
